Hi, I am Montserrat and this is my project, my business, and my way to honor my amazing husband George.
George died of colon cancer in May 2019.
During George's battle with cancer, I learned a lot about myself and my family. I learned how to keep my family going while we lived with cancer. I started a blog about my discoveries which I have added to this site. I also started writing a story about a father with cancer because I could not find the right type of book for my 7-year-old.
While George was sick, I looked for a group art therapy program for my girls. I thought they would benefit from being with some other kids who had sick parents. Unfortunately, I could not find anything.
After George died, I reopened the story I had started and started to think about how I could help others. After a lot of thought and research, I created When a Dragon Comes.
I created this business to meet 2 needs that my family experienced. The first is to publish children's books about cancer, illness, and death. The second is to help fund social services for children who have a sick parent or need grief counseling.
In addition to this, I work as a mental health therapist, I am a mom of these amazing daughters, and I work every day to grow my life around our experience with cancer and loss.
This is my husband, George .
This is my current family and who inspired me to create this business and write our stories.
